Chateau Pontet-Canet, 5ème Grand Cru Classé, Pauillac, Bordeaux, 2016 Tasting notes

Pontet-Canet (19,5 points)
[60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot]

Deep intense but clear purple color. Incredibly expressive nose. Extremely ripe, almost jammy, fruit and very complex on the nose. I had written down: “I don’t know what these people do with their vines, but they did it again: What a wine!” Beautiful tight linear black and red fruit; very precise. I just loved the ripe and elegant tannins. Superb length and an incredible balance. One of the best Pontet-Canet’s I have ever tasted and one of the few samples I actually swallowed. Like I said in earlier years: if this is the result of Biodynamic, why don’t they all go biodynamic then? Yet another great Pontet-Canet.
